sacajewea set offer-- evaluate

please evaluate this sacajewea set offer. 7, each year, 14.95 s/h included.

https://www.littletoncoin.com/OfferWeb/OfferStartJ.jsp
(put in code: 7fb300)

what do you think of that. I know this has virtually no PM content. but they are basically only 100% of face, and, it's a set and would take some trouble to put together yourself. betcha it would fetch more at ebay immediately, and maybe more in the future. whatchasay?

Doesn't interest me. I'd spend it on real metal.

Yes but what if you can profit easily and then convert your profit into "real metal." That is the question.

Not at 2x face. I would wait until it was $7.00. If Littleton will sell SAE for under spot, they should sell this for face value.

They have the offers in the PARADE / USA Weekend insert of local newspapers. It should be about time for them to start offering the 2007 too. I don't remember what the last code was but try a "littleton coin Silver Eagle code" search.

It's really not horrible. I gotta figure that I'd spend that much compiling the years on my own. Plus, these will only go up now that the President series will be starting up.....
I guess if I were interested in re-selling full date BU sets, I'd buy one BU roll of each year and put them together myself somehow. That would be most cost effective.

That was not really the original question, but...

As I said, not interested. More trouble than it's worth as far as I am concerned. I only do real metal for investment. I don't collect salvage tin or steel either, but I could make a profit at it if I chose.

That doesnt mean you can't or shouldn't. Just answering the question.

Now, if you were standing next to me and said "hey, why don't you buy those and I'll immediately pay you double? Sure, whatever you want. But I'd warn you first that you are getting raped. Long as I don't have to waste any time on that crap or hold it for more than a minute or so. And it's at your request and you understand the stupidity involved.

If you offered to give me a 20 FRN for 10 1's I'd take the offer too. Assuming you are just being a philanthropist and it would make you feel good. But I'm not gonna go through any trouble to find someone who will do that.

Hell, buy a hundred sets if you believe they are so valuable.

My evaluation is I don't trust them or sandwich proofs to maintain any practical value. And that was the question.

I'm not in the business of sacajewea's or sandwiches. I'd feel dirty.

I'm not one of those "anything for a profit" guys. I don't sell drugs either.

Hey, Anty Ep:

Don't do it. You will wait too long to recoup your monies, if at all. I am a numismatist and I have a few Sacs in my collection (twelve to be exact). They are all from 2001, and all of them are from the Denver mint except one which is a proof version for that year. I guarantee the Sacs you will get will not include any 2001 D. You will be stuck with a bunch of coins no one will care about for decades.

When I visited my sister last year, she received a bunch of these in the mail. Not one was 2001 D, and a lot of them starting to turn, slightly. They were all uncirculated, but not in great shape.

The bad bit of info about Sacs is they tarnish easy, and become very ugly, even without handling.

Save your money and if you want to buy something numismatic and cheap, buy original bank wrapped rolls of pre 64 Roosevelt dimes. These can be bought at or under spot on eBay as long as you bid on the more common dates.

Thanks for the tip from a "pro". I've always felt like the rolls I've got are long-term keepers. (esp. the Franklins)

Hey, Wyldwil:

I'm not a pro, yet. I don't have the years, but soon enough. Yeah, keep those Franklins, especially if they in original rolls.

The Franklins are not an overly pretty coin, but demand is growing as it is a relatively unknown coin. Buy now and hold. You won't be disappointed.

The other sleeper is 1964 Kennedy halves. Philly mint: Circulation strikes: 273,304,004
Proofs: 3,950,762

Denver Mint:
Circulation strikes: 156,205,446
Proofs: 0

A lot of those about to be had for just over spot. Only pay significantly more for certified, especially ms 66 and up.

I don't mess with the '65 - '70 as those are 40% silver. I probably should get into those, but I spend my FRTs on 90% or better.
